I believe breath becomes energy when you reach deep within yourself and take a full, centering breath. I teach Gyrokinesis classes to help anyone find a sense of calm and openness to their lives. My approach focuses on blending breath with movement to guide the release of common tensions. The Gyrokinesis method is generally taught in a group class setting and intertwines breath with movement. Class attendees move through a series of spinal motions either standing, sitting on a stool or on the floor.
In 2002, I took my first Gyrokinesis® class from Magali Messac of Gyrotonic Seattle. The experience of the method inspired my journey to become a certified Gyrokinesis instructor in 2012. The Gyrotonic Expansion System encompasses the Gyrokinesis method. With my commitment to practice this method, I’ve experienced shorter injury recovery times.
After more than 20 years of studying dance (ballet, ballroom, contemporary, and jazz) in New York, Seattle, and Tacoma, I find the Gyrotonic Expansion System helps me to stay healthy and active. I’m also an avid knitter (Ravelry @KMDesigns) and content strategist in the tech industry.
If interested, I’m available to teach specialized classes with emphasis on tension release of neck, shoulders and hands as well as feet and hands tension release. I’ve taught a class at the Fort Worden Knitters Retreat since 2011. People say they feel like they have just received a massage after attending one of my specialized tension release classes. Feel free to contact me with questions at KMExhales@hotmail.com .
